Something in me

Quote by Sylvia Plath
“Something in me wants more – I can’t rest.” This quote by Sylvia Plath deeply resonated with me. It inspired this piece of type art. The lettering is drawn in a delicate, filigree style, and the leaf motif emerged from the autumn weather at the time the work was created.

The design of the lettering was a balance between legibility and organic flow. Although I enjoy working conceptually—meaning I can justify my design decisions—not every choice in type art requires a fully reasoned explanation. What I mean in relation to this piece is that the leaves may appear somewhat arbitrary, but to me they fit the quote in an almost mystical way and give the statement a coherent frame. Well… I ended up explaining it after all.
