“Carpe Noctem” is Latin and means “seize the night,” the counterpart to “carpe diem.” For this animation, I drew six different letterings and placed them over an atmospheric photograph I took one night on my way home.

In the process of creating short videos, I continuously learn the basics of video production, editing, and storytelling. I also experiment with animation techniques such as stop motion and explore how type and lettering can be presented in an informative and, above all, entertaining way in video form. A particular challenge lies in keeping the videos short while still making them meaningful and substantial.
